The North West face of the island boasts the tallest sea cliffs in Europe and are best viewed from a boat at sea.

Achill's five Blue Flag Beaches include the beautiful Keem Strand just behind Achill Head, the long and spectacular Keel Strand which snakes a distance of 4 kilometres from the Village of Keel to the foot of the Minaun Cliffs, and the Golden Strand at Dugort Village, a delightful sandy beach which is the perfect sea side visit for the family with small children.

Perched on the slopes of Slievemore is the famous Deserted Village, a collection of 80 stone cottages which were abandoned during the Famine of 1845. Also on Slievemore are the Megalithic Tombs dating some 5000 years.

The Pirate Queen Grace O’Malley ( Grainne Uaile ) set out on her raiding parties from her Castle at Kildavnet (Cill Damhnait). 400 years after her death her castle still stands overlooking Achill Sound.
